“Urban renewal always happens as a symphony of events, and part of the symphony is innovative, optimistic developers with the ability and willingness to transform historic properties,”

i’ve taken a few months off from this blog, for personal reasons, none of which have to do with my passion for my home town diminishing.
last night i felt a resurgence of passionate hope for my city from the entire nation. over the past few months, my dedication to and love for detroit has attracted me to like michiganders. all trying to capture and share all the magic the city holds.
but last night was different. last night, EVERYONE listened. we didn’t need to beg, or stand on our soap box, or shout from roof tops. we had their attention.
this grabbed their attention.
so i’ll repeat, for any that weren’t listening.
“That’s who we are. That’s our story.”
and this is my detroit.
Some people hate the snow. I just love having a good time. It’s amazing what a shovel and five friends can make in detroit.
Yes, folks, yes. It has been a year since that first post heard ‘round the world shot out of a cold, placid dorm room on the south-side of the Michigan State University campus.
And, oh what a year it has been.
Does anyone really care though? I’ll bet a pretty solid no, but nonetheless…
